Jana in the Spotlight

Jana, founder of Winsales, tells us 3 things she can’t work without and how she likes to start her weekend. Through precise planning, Jana always knows what’s coming up and never loses track.

  1.  Cold shower

I have to start the day with a cold shower in the morning (1-2 minutes warm phase followed by 1 minute cold phase). You have to get used to it at first, but then it becomes easier and easier and you start the day much fresher and with more energy. As a result, the cold shower can also compensate for a sleep deficit. It also seems to strengthen my immune system.

  1. Timetable instead of to-do list

I am not a fan of simply working off a long list of to-dos. Instead, I usually decide on 3-5 priorities for the day, which I then schedule for myself. In other words, I put my estimated time behind each task and define the time window when I will complete the task. It is important to plan for buffer times because most of the time you need a little more time than originally planned. With this kind of planning, I not only work through my To Do’s, but also always have a precise time plan. One’s own concentration times and energy levels should also be considered: For example, I prefer to do creative tasks in the morning, when my energy level is still high, whereas “stupid” tasks tend to be done in the afternoon.

  1. Fixed sports and “reward” blocks

Just as I plan my work ahead, I also like to plan my sports and lunch blocks, so I know what to look forward to. Whether it’s lunch with friends, cooking delicious meals or going for a walk when it’s good weather, I always like to know what’s coming up. Planning also allows me personally to react better to last-minute changes, as I don’t have to organize myself at the moment. I usually plan my daily sports sessions at the weekend in advance, so I’m not even tempted to skip my sport. With Urban Sports Club I have a huge choice, so I always have plenty of variety. If I need to, I sit down at my desk again after sport with a clear head.

This is my favourite way to start the weekend

Definitely with a delicious dinner and a good spritz, accompanied by family and friends. When the weather is nice, I like to go for a ride on my racing bike to switch off and leave the week behind me. Afterwards, I look forward even more to a nice evening with friends. Unlike the weekdays, I don’t plan much on the weekend and like to be spontaneously ‘op jück’ – there’s always something going on here in Cologne!
