Winsales goes OMR 2023

This year, two of our founders Jana and Chris went to the OMR Festival in Hamburg. You often hear a lot of positive things about OMR – but is the fair even worth the hype?

Our two founders Jana and Chris went to the OMR Festival in Hamburg for the first time this year. There they were able to take away a lot of interesting content for Winsales. Here you can find some insights into the most exciting programs and learnings, as well as some disappointments of the fair:

„AI won’t take your job, a human with AI will.” (Future of marketing – Jens Polomski)

One of the most exciting and prominent topics of the fair was AI in marketing and sales. Our vision that AI in sales needs to be empowered was not only confirmed by Jens Polomski’s contribution. Staying on the AI ball requires a constant curiosity and the right approach to AI tools for one’s personal goals.

„LinkedIn is no business-tinder” (State of LinkedIn 2023 – Britta Behrens)

Britta Behrens’ presentation focused on one thing in particular: corporate influencing. She advised against the method of cold calling via direct message on LinkedIn. Today, it is advantageous to convince through an exciting profile and relevant content and thus attract customers on your own. A quote that our two managing directors were able to take away from the talk: “Social selling is the art not to sell, but will make them buy.”

Networking and partnerships

Of course, in addition to interesting talks, the OMR Festival also offered the opportunity to network and create new partnerships. In doing so, we primarily targeted partnerships with thematic overlaps to Winsales: marketing partnerships and representatives of sales tools were in focus.

Reunion with customers

In addition to generating new partnerships, the visit also focused on reuniting with existing customers. Here, for example, we were able to connect again with our longstanding customer CWS.

Unfortunately, there were also some disappointments:

Due to the size of the fair, it was often very crowded. In many cases, the capacity of the location was simply not sufficient for the masses of people, so that one stood in front of closed doors for several presentations.

We also noticed that there was often a lack of personality and the possibility to discuss even in smaller groups on more pointed topics.

The talks and speakers were announced in advance and had attractive titles, but due to the lack of time, the topics could only be touched on superficially.
